About Us

Vision

A Cambodia free of poverty

Mission

To improve the living standards of the most vulnerable subsistence communities throughout rural Cambodia

History

Working with local villagersThe Cambodian Rural Development Team was established in 2002 by a group of Rural Development graduates who wanted to find ways of improving the living standards of the most vulnerable members of subsistence communities throughout rural Cambodia To date, the work of the of CRDT has focused on generating sustainable development outcomes using environmentally positive renewable resources and appropriate agricultural technologies that are delivered in close consultation with the beneficiaries themselves.

Central to these projects are farmer education and training programs in which villagers undertake all construction stages of the project under the instruction of the implementation team.  This training, when combined with provision of biological gas digesters (biodigesters) clean water and improved agricultural practice creates long-term food security, at the same time alleviating deforestation and increasing sanitation.  This dramatically effects the standard of living and acts as a catalyst to break the local cycle of poverty and ensures on-going project successes.

All team members are from rural backgrounds and therefore share a unique understanding of the extreme hardship and poverty, which face many remote communities within Cambodia.  The team is now striving towards the further development of Cambodia in line with the policies of the Royal Cambodian Government.
